if a building is situated next to the salzburg festival hall where gérard mortier had a world famous reputation for his innovative performances and also faces a mountain on which the museum housing modern art was built, this provides a strong impulse in the neighbourhood - at least for us.
in 2001 we seized the chance to incorporate our interest in art and culture into our hotel so that it orientates itself strongly towards art and culture.

our collection comprises more than 100 originals; you will come across subtle, partly ironic artwork when walking through the house. we regularly position the works of art in different spots and continuously expand our collection. its concept is based on personal encounters with the artists: we know most of the represented artists in person. in the course of our programme "artists in residence" we invite budding artists to reside for some time in a suite in our hotel instead of working in their atelier. all the artwork that is created during this period of time is exhibited in our art hotel and is added to our collection.

art hotel: more than just a design hotel

the "blaue gans" is a venue for art in the city of salzburg, a "habitable work of art" for a certain time, a place of residence for artists and their oeuvre.
